Announcing Expansion Pack

If you've been with me a while, you may remember that my first Expansion for $7 Secrets Scripts was called Expansion Pack. Eventually, I renamed the product Giveaway Expansion—first, because I decided to limit the scope of that product to a single set of features relating to the giveaway function in 7DSS and, second, because I had plans for reusing the name for what I'm finally announcing today.

Expansion Pack is (now) a bundle of all the Expansions I've released up to today: Admin Expansion (the full version), Giveaway Expansion, Sell-Out Expansion, and The $7 Blacklist. But in and of itself that wouldn't really be anything new; I didn't want to release Expansion Pack until I had something more to give you.

So today, while these aren't yet individually available, I'm including three new Expansions in Expansion Pack, making it a real bundle: Checkout Expansion, Landing Page Expansion, and Social Proof Expansion. Briefly (you can click the links for more info), the new products offer some cool, new features for 7DSS:

But wait (I feel like a late-night infomercial announcer), that's not all! Also included are two more Expansions that you can only get with Expansion Pack:

  • Template Expansion: create additional, optional pages that tie into 7DSS actions
  • Snag Plugin: display purchase record data on any 7DSS template

If you've been keeping score, that's a total of 9 Expansions, with a total (counting released, soon-to-be-released, priced-as-if-it-were-released-separately products) retail value of $96. And, as you'd expect, Expansion Pack will be offered at a significant price savings. How much?

$67.

That's 30% off the retail value of the whole package!

But wait, there's more! (No, better than free shipping.)

Bonus #1: Instead of my standard free-updates-for-two-years policy, purchasers of Expansion Pack get all updates to these Expansions for life (the life of the Expansion).

Bonus #2: When (not if) I create additional Expansions, those products will be added to Expansion Pack and previous purchasers will get the new products for free.

I've pretty much rehashed the same deal over at the Expansion Pack sales page; feel free to investigate further there and by using the links above.

Operators are standing by.

Expansion Pack is Now Giveaway Expansion

Back in 2007 when I created my first expansion for $7 Secrets Scripts, I really had no idea where I was going with the product; I thought perhaps that this one product would bundle dozens of features. However, later ideas spawned separate products generally named "__________ Expansion," each product with a narrow set of features, and it became obvious that Expansion Pack was an unfortunate choice of names.

Today I'm fixing that issue by renaming Expansion Pack to Giveaway Expansion. There are no new features in Giveaway Expansion, but it does require that you be using Admin Expansion or Admin Expansion Lite (included) version 1.2 or later.

Existing users can download the latest version of Giveaway Expansion for two years after purchase by using the download link they received at purchase. (If you've lost your download link, please contact support.) When installed, Giveaway Expansion will rename Expansion Pack's settings file and disable Expansion Pack.

Updated Expansions for $7 Secrets 2.8

Yes, you're right: it's been a very long time since I've posted here. The basic reason for that has been that, since my last post, I've been very busy with getting $7 Secrets 2.7, and then 2.8, together and out. Add to that my support activities on the support desk and the forum; getting out a new, Italian language version of $7 Secrets; and maintaining all of my previous commitments, and you can see why development at $7 Tools has lagged.

But now I'm pleased to announce new versions of most of the tools here, updated mostly to keep them compatible with $7 Secrets 2.8. Here's what we have:

  • Admin Expansion 1.2 and Admin Expansion Lite 1.2, offering a new interface for the 7DSS admin panel and 7DSS 2.8 compatibility

Admin Expansion 1.2 now requires 7DSS 2.8.

These new versions all require Admin Expansion 1.2, which means they also require 7DSS 2.8. (Previous versions compatible with 7DSS 2.7 are still available in your download area, but, hey, you should update to the latest versions for increased reliability.)

To download these updates, use the download link you were sent when you purchased. Remember, purchasers receive free updates for two years from date of purchase. If you have any questions, open a support ticket and I'll get back to you.

Expansion Pack Updated to 1.0.2

Expansion Pack has been updated to fix two bugs:

  • Fixed bug which in some cases caused the Download Expired page to show when bypassing the squeeze page (thank you, Xavier Nelson) [1.0.1]

  • Fixed bug introduced in 1.0.1 which did not allow bypassing of the squeeze page for giveaways (thank you, Henry Zeng) [1.0.2]

Past purchasers of Expansion Pack for $7 Secrets can download the latest version by using their original download link.

Updates and 2.7 Compatibility

I just wanted to check in briefly and let you know about some minor updates to my 7 Dollar Tools expansion products. Also, because the $7 Secrets Scripts have been updated, I've gone through each product to ensure compatibility with version 2.7.

To determine the versions you are currently using for the following products, log in to your admin panel. Use your original download links to update your products.

Admin Expansion Lite — current version: 1.1.2, 2.7-compatible: YES
- v1.1.2: Various changes for future expandability
- v1.1.1: Various changes for future expandability

(Use download link for Expansion Pack, Sell-Out Expansion)

Admin Expansion — current version: 1.1.1, 2.7-compatible: YES
- v1.1.1: Various changes for future expandability
- v1.1: Updated Test Mode to work with 2.7's "gather zips" feature

Expansion Pack — current version: 1.0, 2.7-compatible: YES

Sell-Out Expansion — current version: 1.0, 2.7-compatible: YES

The $7 Blacklist — current version: 1.0, 2.7-compatible: YES

Although these products are 2.7-compatible, I do NOT recommend that you update your 7 Dollar Secrets scripts installation at this point. I am currently beta-testing version 2.7.1, which appears to correct the issues I noted with 2.7; hopefully that will be released soon.

Lastly, I recently completed an installation for Admin Expansion user, Dylan Loh, who has just released a new product designed to show you how to find JV partners who will promote your products for you. Using Expansion Pack, Bypassing the Squeeze Page

Expansion Pack user and Business Card Guru, Diana Ratliff
(http://7dollartools.com/ht/bizcardguru), wrote to ask:

[How can I] do just like you did on your expansion page and collect the name/email when they order?

Well, Diana, it's an easy, three-step process:

  1. Copy your autoresponder's form code from your squeeze page (squeeze.html) and paste it into your sales page (salesletter.html).
  2. You'll be replacing your existing order button with this form. Dress it up with graphics if you want, but make sure you have instructions there that tell the user why they're giving their name and e-mail address up front.

  3. Change the "Thank You"/redirect/confirmation page URL for your
    autoresponder from:
  4. http://[yourdomain.com][/scripts_folder]/index.php?action=download

    to

    http://[yourdomain.com][/scripts_folder]/index.php?action=order

Replace [yourdomain.com] with your domain and (optionally) [/script_folder] with the scripts folder you use in settings.php. Now, when the form is submitted your customer will be taken to PayPal.

  5. Edit the Bypass Squeeze Page setting in exp_settings.php:
  6. $exp_bypass_squeeze = true;

Make sure there is a semi-colon (";") at the end of that line! Now, when your customer returns from PayPal, 7DSS will not show the squeeze page; instead, they will proceed directly to the download page or the OTO page, depending on your 7 Dollar Secrets
    Scripts settings.

The script flow has now changed from

Sales Page -> Order -> Squeeze Page -> Download/OTO

to

Sales/Squeeze Page -> Order -> Download/OTO

$7 Secrets is Available

Well, I surprised myself! Although it took me just over a month to complete the first step in this project, I actually did follow through and put together an offering for $7 Secrets.

I waited for about two-and-a-half weeks before I uploaded the scripts and it took me another two-and-a-half weeks to tweak everything so it was just like I wanted it. Most of that time was spent just learning how the scripts work and there's really no reason why someone else -- someone without my analytical personality -- couldn't take the $7 Secrets scripts and have them up-and-running within days.

Setting up the script is easy, so most of your time is spent creating your offer and the supporting web pages. The $7 Secrets scripts then make selling your product a snap!

Lest I forget, there's a report that's really the primary reason for making the purchase. Unless you understand the advantage of selling low-cost info products, you won't really understand how the scripts will help you. (Don't be narrow-minded, either: the scripts are being used to market all kinds of products -- physical and digital -- at many different price points.) And even if you never use the scripts, the information in the report is valuable in its own right.

All right, rather go on any longer about the product, let me just point you to $7 Secrets itself and let you make your own decision. Good luck!
